Rocky bay northeast of Howth village (Cat Rock / Split Rock area): pollack, coalfish and wrasse on float or feathers, with winter codling and night conger over rough ground.

Access
Short walk from Balscadden car park, northeast of Howth village. Easier access than higher Howth Head cliff marks. DART to Howth then walk or bus.
Tide
Plan from Dublin Port tables (Howth HW ~5 min earlier than North Wall). Rising water after low often concentrates fish in gullies; watch your exit on the flood.
Safety
Slippery rock in wet weather. Swell can cut off ledges. Never fish Howth Head cliff edges in onshore surge. This guide does not cover boat trips to Ireland's Eye.
Tactics
Float and feathers for pollack, coalfish and wrasse in clearer water. Single-hook ledgers over rough ground for dogfish and occasional conger at night. Mackerel on feathers in season.
