A substantial working harbour pier with deep-water access close in. The outer pier wall drops into a channel that holds pollack, coalfish, whiting and the occasional bass. Codling move in during winter nights. Whiting are reliable through the colder months, confirmed across the regional guides. The harbour mouth area produces flounder and dabs on the bottom. Home harbour of Wicklow Boat Charters, when the boats are catching tope close in during October to November, distance casts from the pier head can connect with stragglers (shore-caught tope to over 40 lb documented in the area).
