If I were fishing here
If I were fishing Jack's Hole, I'd match the tide to bass and change mark before I change the whole kit.
I'd skip when…
I'd skip when swell is up, the rock is greasy, or I'm fishing alone. Jack's Hole does not forgive a casual call.
When it fishes well
Two hours either side of high water gives best access to the rock ledges and puts fish in range. At low water the ground is very rough and snaggy on the rock side. The flooding tide is best for wrasse and bass, fish the colour change where reef meets clean sand. Crab particularly good in autumn.
Mixed cove south of Wicklow town, autumn bass and pollack at night, check access and tide cut-off.
