You can catch Mackerel, Pollock and Coalfish here. Bring ragworm or lugworm, and fish a float rig.
The modern marina pier at Greystones, replacing the original Victorian harbour after the 2010s redevelopment. One of the most accessible fishing marks in Co. Wicklow and the home harbour of Greystones Ridge Angling Club. The outer pier wall produces wrasse, pollock and mackerel in summer; the inner harbour holds flounder, codling and small coalfish through winter. The harbour entrance is the productive zone, multiple local reports specify fishing at the entrance, away from the blocks. Now an established autumn squid (eging) venue. The pier is sheltered enough to fish in most weather, making it the go-to when beaches are blown out.

What to bring, and the rig that matches conditions
Big bait and distance on Greystones Harbour & Pier, so the pulley pennel protects the cast and presents cleanly on the drop. A light grip lead still casts clean on calm sand.

Today's conditions at Greystones Harbour & Pier suit a pulley pennel rig. A heavy-duty distance rig that protects large soft baits during the cast. The hooklink slides through a pulley swivel so bait and hooks lift on splash-down while the lead anchors.

Access
Directly off the R761 through Greystones town. The harbour is fully accessible on foot and by car. The head of the outer (west) pier has been designated an angling-only zone, almost unique in Ireland and a useful access protection for shore anglers.
Parking
Paid parking is available near the harbour. It is a short walk to the right hand pier from the car park.

Species, tactics, tides, and today's plan for this mark
Sheltered marina pier, family friendly, mackerel in summer and a genuine autumn squid fishery on egi.
From the shore
Two angler-validated tactical edges from local sources. First, fish AT the harbour entrance, NOT against the blocks. Multiple SAI session reports specify the entrance as the productive zone. Second, clear, calm, sunny days are the LEAST productive here. Counter-intuitive to beginners; the harbour rewards low light, dusk, and after-dark sessions. Bites typically cluster after dark, one cited report had 10 fish between two anglers between 21:00 and 22:30 on a 22:00 high tide. Squid (eging) is now an established autumn fishery here. Crab predation is heavy, bigger baits, bait elastic, and floating beads are the standard responses. Surprises define this pier: cuckoo ray, octopus, plaice and even a turbot have been reported alongside the standard mackerel/pollock/whiting mix. The head of the west pier is angling-only, almost unique in Ireland; preserve and promote this access protection. Greystones Ridge Angling Club runs from the harbour clubhouse and is the local repository of mark intelligence. Display coordinates have been moved to a typed field, the override (53.151742, -6.063919) was previously buried in conditions text and lost during data passes.
